The question jumped into my head the other day: Why doesn't Google offer web-hosting services? They have the capacity, they have the skills, and as a matter of fact in most cases they already have your content too. This would cut out the need for the whole spidering-thang too...
Many people rely on reading the Google-cache version of a site if it goes offline or gets Slashdotted, and some sneaky people even try to abuse their Google rankings by changing content radically which can only then be deciphered by looking at the cached pages. After the news a while ago that Google is actually a DNS registrar (albeit not providing a public service) this would just be one more tiny step.
And hey, if they provided some Python support for dynamic content, I would JUMP at the chance to use them.
