Meta came home this afternoon with a big ugly bite-mark on her cheek. She started at a new creche this week, and has been going with her mommy to get used to the new place.
Some little boy walked up to her, pulled at her while she was sitting on a rocking horse, and then bit her on the cheek. Fortunately the bite did not draw blood, but it must have been very painful and the marks look bad. This is apparently not the first time that it happens at the creche, some other little boy was also bitten by the perpetrator on the nose, and that time it did draw blood.
'When he gets in that mood they move him to another group' the creche says.
Oi, and so it begins. We can't always protect our children from everything as much as we might want to. My stomach churned when I heard the story. All kinds of irrational thoughts came bubbling up. I called the creche to get more information, but it was at their busy time so the person there asked me to call back later. Probably a good strategy.
A few weeks ago Meta was bitten by a rat, at a petting zoo. There was bleeding involved then, but being bitten by the little rat today seems worse.
